Why Archerfield?

Archerfield Airport is Brisbane’s secondary airport. It is located just 11 km (6.8 miles) southwest of the city’s Central Business District. With Stradbroke, Moreton and Fraser Islands in close proximity, Archerfield Airport has long been a destination for corporate and regional aircraft, charter, emergency services, flying training and maintenance.

Convenience is paramount at Archerfield Airport with access to three (3) major road corridors, the interstate railway hub, and thriving commercial and industrial precincts. With the largest number of general aviation movements of all Queensland airports, Archerfield has the most aviation operators and flying schools in Queensland and is home to over 200 aircraft.

With developed facilities being predominantly aircraft hangars and workshops, Archerfield Airport boasts 70 hangars – including the new $25 million LifeFlight complex – and over 80 businesses on site employing hundreds of people. Services include flying schools, an historic passenger/administration building and an Airservices Australia operated Air Traffic Control tower. Furthermore, over 50 hectares of greenfield sites can be developed for both aviation and non-aviation purposes.

Archerfield Airport is where your enterprise can succeed and find new horizons.

Our Masterplan

The Archerfield Airport Master Plan (2022-2042) is currently in the approvals process.

The plan aims to ensure the airport continues to evolve into a modern, world-class facility and remains the focus of general and corporate aviation in South East Queensland. The 2022-2042 Master Plan retains the core principles of the previously approved 2017 Master Plan, which can be reviewed here. It has been updated and refined to recognise the range of projects that have been implemented at the airport since 2017. For more information, the preliminary draft Master Plan 2022 is available for download here

Recent Projects

In keeping with our Master Plan and vision for the future, Archerfield Airport is undertaking important upgrades and revitalising key airport infrastructure.

We are embarking on a range of new projects in the near future. If you wish to learn more about these upgrades and future planning, please contact us.

Tenants

The owners and operators of Archerfield Airport believe that there is a need to continually improve the level of service it provides to customers and stakeholders.

This can be achieved by meeting mutually agreed responsibilities which incorporate safety, security and environment protection obligations.

To assist Archerfield Airport in meeting these community responsibilities in a timely fashion, please familiarise yourself with the appropriate information in the online PDFs and request forms available through the links below.

Building Approvals

Under the Airports Act, developments on and off Archerfield Airport are required to gain all necessary approvals for building and construction work before the commencement of the works.

On-airport development must meet all regulatory safety, structural and engineering standards before commencing. Off-airport developments (within a 15 km radius of the airport) should review whether the project may adversely impact airport operations and future airport development. Further information and details are available on our designated Building Approvals page.

Project AIM works & Major Development Plan (MDP)

Archerfield Airport recently implemented Project AIM: Airside Infrastructure Modernisation (Project AIM).

This project was the culmination of various airside infrastructure improvements as foreshadowed in the Master Plan 2017-37
(available here) and previous master plans since 2000.

The project included the full reconstruction and lengthening of the main runway, and upgrading of associated taxiways and other associated infrastructure including lighting and visual aids, to improve and modernise existing facilities. This will provide excellent opportunities for new aviation and aviation-compatible businesses to call Archerfield Airport ‘home’.
